Shaking in first gear

Hi scotty thanks for the great videos. I learn more from you than from anyone else. My 04 corolla shakes when I accelerate in first gear only. I use to let the clutch off a little bit and it will move forward with barely pressing the gas pedal but now i have to step on the gas more than it should so it doesn’t shake like crazy.could it be the tensioner or clutch? Is only on first gear. 220,000 with new front and reat suspension and new oem wheels and tires. Thanks

I would check your 20-year-old engine and transmission mounts (assuming they're original).

or clutch?

Yeah it could be a clutch (obvi if the car is has a manual tranny)

Go into 5th gear at ~2,750 rpm (around peak torque) and floor it - if the RPM needle goes up and the speed doesn't (or the rpm does up a lot and back down while your speed only increased), that's clutch slip.

This is a good demo on a diesel, this one slips in a pretty spectacular way.
