my car runs I do have a check engine light but here lately when I run my a/c my van hesitates than dies why does this happened when my ac is not running my van doesn't die

Clarification: mileage? Also what codes does it throw?

Load test the battery and alternator. Odds are either you have a weak alternator or bad AC compressor.

do you have separate belts for the alternator and AC compressor? Try removing one to isolate the cause.
