I have a 2006 f350 with a 6.0 diesel. The injectors all at once got real noisy at idle. I decided to change the ICP sensor. It broke off when I tried to take it out. I am reluctant to drill it to put an easy out in it, for fear of putting drill shavings in the hi pressure oil manifold. Any suggestions? Thanks and I really like your videos.
what you do try is to drill a smaller hole in the middle not all the way through then get an easy out and fits in the hole and as you turn it counterclockwise to get it out the bit bit bit bites inside the hole and should get it out
STOP ! You need to remove the oil rail and then remove the broken sensor.
Do not attempt to do it with the oil rail on the engine. You must thoroughly clean the oil rail before reinstalling. ABSOLUTLY clean.
Any tiny bit of debris put into that pump will ruin it. It is a very close tolerance unit.
Common practice would be to coat a drill bit with chassis grease and drill. In theory the chips stick to the grease. Same when using a ez out. NO guarantee that every tiny chip will stick to the grease.
As far as the injectors "all" being noisy all of a sudden...that 6.0 has more problems than a bad sensor. If you're experiencing white smoke all the time...it needs expert help in pinpointing the exact problem, rather than spending hundreds of dollars on guessing that leads directly to thousands in repairs.
The design of the 6.0 injectors is such that they use engine oil as a hydraulic fluid. Frequent oil changes, Motorcraft oil and fuel filters, a "stiction" additive, and pristine fuel are critical.
One injector not working properly can quickly ruin a cylinder by fuel dribbling out the injector onto the cylinder wall and washing away the critical film of oil. Constant white smoke all the time and raw fuel smell at tailpipe.
