06 Honda Accord v6 EX jerks when tranny shifts gears

Hey Scotty, long time fan of yours. I have a 2006 Honda Accord Ex v6 (automatic) and when I was driving, it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear ok, but then shifts 2nd to 3rd gear rough and the car jumps/jerks. It has since stopped, but I'm wondering, should I be concerned/worried about my transmission? Or leave it be and pray since it's since stopped jerking?

Mileage?

When was the last time you changed the ATF (and filter)? -

I just did a flush on it 1000 miles ago (odo is 101020). And I'm told it actually doesn't have a filter

It has a filter but is non-serviceable, ie, the trans needs to be disassembled to change it out. Never do a flush, just change the fluid.

That model year of Accords did have transmission issues, so you may want to have it diagnosed by a professional tranny shop in your area. Then take a decision on the vehicle post the diagnosis. https://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2006/transmission/

Soo far, it hasn't acted up/done that again. And I used Valvoline compatable atf instead of genuine honda when I did the flush. Still good possibly or should I have a concern?

Hmm, with Honda automatics, Scotty usually recommends sticking to OEM atf fluid. Keep a close eye on it & hope for the best.

I just remembered, when I flushed the ATF, it wasn't done with a powered machine, instead I just drained, filled, drained, filled, drained, filled. Just through a bolt and gravity. Would that still do any harm?

Drain and fill shouldn’t do any harm in an otherwise normally functioning Honda automatic transmission. All the best!
