So I am from canada and I am really struggling about buying a Lexus LS400 1992, first it already has 300k kilometers on it and the interior condition is 4/10, that I will definitely try to fix it if I get the car, but the gas consumption is extremely high and for the potential mechanical problems I don’t have the confidence to get the parts or have enough money to purchase them, so I wonder if anyone could give me some references on the parts that’s being sold for LS400 and just generally which part can be most commonly has problems?

PS: I am about to become an engineer and I am not sure this car would be able to support me through another two years?

Any 30 year old luxury car is going to be a poor choice for a budget - anything low volume and expensive is going to have expensive parts. Moderate-priced cars that sell in high volume, aftermarket parts companies get into the market and keep the parts prices low, and because there are a lot of Civics or Ford Focuses out there, parts are easy to find. Also, non-luxury cars have far fewer parts and/features to go wrong.

If moderate cost and ease of repair/maintenance is your goal, get something high-volume that has OBDII (96 or later) like a Camry, Accord, etc.
