1998 Lexus LS400

So I’m about to get a 98 with about 125k on it, for only $2,000. Needs a power steering pump, alternator and supposedly had the head gasket replaced at about 109k. My question is with all the hype around these cars. Is there anything that I should be worried about in this situation with the quality of this car even at the amazing price?

The quality of those cars is excellent but in a car that old you will be dealing with issues caused by age, even with relatively low mileage. Of course a lot will depend on how it's been maintained over the last 25 years.  Fixing the "old car" type issues that crop up could get expensive pretty quickly if you don't work on it yourself. It really should be examined by a good mechanic to verify its condition.

Toyota/Lexus are known to last a long time. At the same time, Toyota/Lexus is NOT immune to age related problems. If it checks out, and you can get him lower on price, might be a good project, but not daily driver.
