Just got back to graduate school and left my 2007 F-150 automatic with the 5.4L V8 sitting for a week and a half (cold Oklahoma temps). Just had a new battery put in at Ford dealer and rear brake job done. It has 174,000 miles on it. I just stated the truck today when I got back and the TRANSISSUE came on where the odometer is. The O/D off light kept flashing too. The truck ran fine with no issues shifting into reverse even. I turned it off and on and now no warning lights and the trip odometer got reset. Do you think this is a transmission issue or is it just electrical from an old Ford? I have to drive it back 1300 miles next week (no I’m not kidding). What would you advise?
It needs to be scanned with a scan tool fancy enough to read transmission codes and data to determine the cause. It would be unwise to embark on a 1300 mile trip until you know what the problem is or you could find yourself fulfilling the old saying about "FORD" standing for "Found On Road Dead".
