Subaru Legacy no power

07 subaru legacy gt.

Currently I sit at 138k miles manual 5 speed. When going into 1st gear and give it gas the car lags and idle drops to almost the car turning off if I'm not quick enough with the clutch. But if I give it little gas it goes just fine. Another thing I noticed is in highway speed when I want to pass a car the car begins to lack in power as if it was starving for fuel. Kinda jolts but when I cruise along its fine. Any ideas.

I had similar problems under two different circumstances with my 2008 Forester XT (manual transmission): 1) tensioner on the timing belt and 2) a dirty mass flow sensor. Clean the mass flow sensor first. You can buy mass flower sensor cleaner, I used electronic parts cleaner. If you have the timing belt replaced as scheduled, they should have suggested replacing the tensioner, pullies, and water pump at the same time. I did it when my tensioner failed at 82k miles.

Great advice and also give a mechanic driving to see if he thinks the clutch is starting to wear out
