Hi scotty and all, is transmission fluid filter need to change when changing AT fluid on Yaris? If so, do discounts part filter and gasket can be used or should I stick to original part? Thank you
I'd use the WS-ATF OEM fluid. Other fluids have a chemical composition that will not play nice in the transmission, at all. I suppose you can use a quality aftermarket for filter and gasket. Or, instead of a gasket, you can use FIPG 103 Seal Packing from Toyota, which is a kind of gasket maker in a tube (that has to be put on the vehicle in 15 minutes).
Stay away from Dorman aftermarket offerings. They are cheap, but I haven't heard mechanics say anything but words like "junk" and 'not useable" about Dorman aftermarket parts.
Remember the transmission is worth thousands, and the service interval is relatively long. IMHO, don't be "penny wise and dollar foolish."
Here's a write up from the Yaris forum from someone who performed this service on their 2007: https://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54520
When changing your transmission fluid, also change the filter.
