07 Tundra Transmission Neutral to Drive Kick in Gilbert, Arizona

Hello my friend, I often tell my family I am going to hang out with my friend Scotty on YouTube 😆

My 2007 Tundra 5.7L SR5 2WD automatic transmission long-bed has about 257,000 miles. I bought it new...

At about 243,00 miles some of the major original components began to fail. Starter, transmission, radiator, catalytic converter. We had them all replaced.

The transmission was changed from the original one to a salvaged one Because of bad shifting. The code or codes called for a new transmission. Well the salvaged transmission leaked a couple of times and we opted for a remanufactured transmission from Toyota. Now, a new problem. From Neutral to Drive it kicks you in the back hard! This happens in and out of parking spots or in the driveway mostly.

I took it back to our mechanic, and they consulted with a transmission specialist and are all stumped. They believe it may be a faulty computer. The computer has not given any error codes! I took my Tundra in for regular service to Toyota since they are so close to my house and mentioned this issue. They “discovered the Transmission was 2 quarts low.” SMH! Our mechanic came from Toyota/Lexus decades ago and I trust him. He does not trust Toyota and does not believe the transmission was two quarts low. I believe it was low but not two quarts. ANYWAY, this problem arose almost immediately after the transmission swap and could not have caused damage right away!?!? Toyota won’t warranty the transmission and my mechanic still believes it is a computer issue. It is his best guesstimation.

We tried to have Toyota flash or reprogram the computer, but it is not something they do. There are also no service bulletins with this issue.

This truck is paid off and wondering if we should just part ways in the near future.

Thanks for your time friend, I really appreciate your time in helping motorists!

Respectfully,

Raul Garcia Jr.

Call this guy on Saturday, he has 45+ years as a master mechanic and he knows his stuff. You can call ahead of time and leave a message and they will call you back to put you in the slot for the live show. I have personally experienced this and it works.

If you have an email address send it to me and I’ll forward you the contact info......
