08 Honda Civic TPMS light troubles

Hi everyone. I have a 2008 Honda Civic with about 150000 miles on it. Last summer the TPMS light came on. I took it to a local shop and they told me that the sensors in the tires were all low on battery, and they replaced them. That fixed the car for about 10 minutes until the light came right back on. Eventually I decided to just buy a scan tool myself and see what the issue was. Turns out the car is now unable to get a signal from any of the TPMS sensors, and there's another code that says "Abnormal Signal Reception Error." Is there maybe an issue with one of the computer modules or did the mechanic use the wrong sensors or not program them right?

Those sensors run on different frequencies. Some cars use multiple frequencies, some don’t . Yours is 315MHz I believe, but europe uses 433 and some places get em confused when they ship em. Also they could have been cheap sensors, they have a watch battery that’s active soon as it gets a signal. Could have been on a shelf for two years before being installed into your tires. Do a sensor read with your tool. if they don’t respond they’re dead. If you get a response progam the sensor id or trigger a relearn procedure

Apparently, the shop used cheap sensors. You should stick to OEM ones which cost a fortune and not worth it unless you really want them and happy with the cost.

well obviously the mechanic you used was a complete moron because whenever I do a job like that I road test it and I look at my scan tool and all the tires should have the same pressure this takes 1 minute for me to do with the scan tool I would go to another mechanic and if it doesn't work have him fix it and send the bill to the other guy for being an idiot
