09 Accord Engine Noise

Scotty,

I bought a 09 Honda Accord LX-P 2.4L automatic 154,000 miles for $5,000. On a cold start the motor made a brief rattling sound. I think it was the VTC actuator so I replaced it. There’s still a brief rattling noise on cold starts but not as loud. When replacing the VTC actuator, I noticed my timing chain was just a little loose and my tensioner was a bit worn. My guides looked good though. Should I replace the tensioner, chain, or both? Could there be anything else wrong with it? Or is it even worth it and should I get rid of the car?

Thank you sir.

Your chain shouldn’t be showing slack, try the tensioner, if you still have slack your gonna have to do the chain. Also honda valves don’t self adjust. At your mileage they need to be adjusted,
