Do you think I need a BMS when replacing my led acid 6V battery with a "Grade A 4PCS 3.2V 280AH Battery LiFePO4 Lithium iron phosphate Battery Pack" the dodge voltage regulator looks like it can recharge the battery with out any modifications and it has a generator not a alternator or do you think it is a bad idea? I can provide more details if you need them I have the cut sheets.

I bought the parts and a cheap BMS for the initial charge but plan to remove it after the batteries are balanced.

I will keep you posted after I make a ignorant attempt to make it work.

Thanks

the terms alternator and generator are used interchangeably. It sounds like you need two of those Li polymer packs to make up 6V. I would use a  BMS, yes. Li batteries charge differently from lead acid.

Thanks Mountain.

Since this truck doesn't have an AC alternator and has an old school DC generator  I kind of figured the voltage regulator would do a mint job recharging the Lithium cells even with the stock settings. Also plan on connecting with four 18650 Energy Cells of 3,400mAh connected in series and parallel to get 7.2V nominal and a total of 48.96Wh.
