Hello from Dallas, I had a child and have let my 1980 corvette with 53k miles sit for 5 years, changed out gas, new battery, sprayed in ether, and pour some gas down carb throat, it started up ran a few seconds then died, I can pour a little gas down throat it starts sputters then dies, won't run on its own, any suggestions on what to do next? or even a mechanic referral up here around dallas to do a home visit? Love your content, thank you

Since it runs briefly by priming the carb with gas you have a fuel delivery problem. The entire fuel system may be plugged up with varnish from old gas. Is the fuel pump working?
