Good afternoon Scotty I'm having issues with my 1987 Dodge D100. It has a 318La with egr. I deleted the egr system and went from a 2 barrel carburetor and intake to a 4 barrel. I swapped the water pump and fuel pump. Now when I start the truck it immediately starts at very high RPM. It will not idle. Could it it be a possible vacuum leak? I see your method of using smoke.

A vacuum leak generally would have the opposite effect because it leans out the mixture. I'd double-check the linkage on that carb swap, make sure it's actually returning fully to the idle position.
