I have an 88 olds delta 88 (74,000 miles,auto) with seatbelts mounted in the doors. They basically do not work. When braking, they do not engage and hold tight to hold the passenger in the seat. This occurs for both the chest and lap belt sections. Any thoughts on how this can be fixed? I replaced them once and the 2nd set does the same thing. I saw something online about a recall with these years back. I'm not sure if there are any options for me to fix at this point.

Its definitely an issue since I can't get them to engage..no matter how much I pull on the belts themselves. Ill look into aftermarket belts!
Maybe buy some aftermarket seat belts from a parts store or something? Seems like its not really an issue... sometimes you really have to yank on them to get them to lock up.
