Scotty can you help have a 1989 chevy cavalier replaced fuel pump alternator starter and idle air control valve casr starts but wont stay running if I unplug the alternator car runs fine please help
Well most cars usually won’t stay running with a dead/bad alternator. At least not for long anyway. Especially if you have a weak battery. If battery has a dead or weak cell the car can die immediately. Why are you unplugging the alternator with the car running? Not only is it dangerous but it can damage what little computer that car has or, the battery, and the alternator itself. That’s a mechanical “DONT DO THAT” thing. What are you trying to do?
I unplug the alternator before the car is started it runs fine but will plug it up and it will run 2 to 3 min then dies had everything checked by mechanic
Load test the alternator. Odds are it is faulty and needs to be replaced.
