Hello, I am confused between Camry and Accord. Which one to buy?

The city I am living in has bumpy road, broken patches and lots of potholes.

BTW I am looking for (Camry XSE 2.5L) and (Accord Sport 1.5L Turbo)

Need some suggestion!!!

I would take the Camry over the turbocharged Honda. Turbocharged engines even though Honda builds really good ones, they just don’t have same lifespan. Those Camry’s come with 19” wheels and run low profile tires. Low profile tires and rims tend to get damaged more on the type of roads you described. The Accord sport also has 19” wheels. But Honda does have a 17” wheel option. Personally if I was buying the car I would switch to 17” wheels with a little more rubber in the sidewall save myself some headaches later. But if you’re careful and don’t drive like my wife does then it should be ok.

low profile does run slightly better or faster (forgot which maybe both.) on a nice paved road, but as soon as you hit a pothole as thumpy said, kiss does rims goodbye. and yeah turbo is a cheap way of getting speed, it also damages the engine much more.

If your looking for performance you got it right with both. You’ll feel those bumpy roads more for sure on a low profile tire.

I would go with the Camry.

Go with the Camry which has a naturally aspirated engine with both port and direct injection so you don’t have to worry about carbon buildup on the back of the intake valves.  Also, the transmission is an Aisin 8-speed AT which is 2 less gears and complexity than the Honda designed 10-speed AT.  For the Honda Accord, besides being more susceptible to oil dilution in the Honda 1.5L (and even 2.0L) turbo charged GDI engines, the engine is also direct-injection only and susceptible to carbon buildup on the back of the intake valves over time (which equates to more maintenance and $$ to address periodically).  The Camry meanwhile has neither of those shortcomings, and for what it is worth is also fun to drive (I know that is the Honda Accord’s thing but the newer Camry’s have stepped up in that department) - better in driving dynamics than any previous generation.

Have you already test driven them both?

If you need a vehicle with a better ground clearance, you can also look at the RAV4 & CR-V.

Out of your 2 choices, I’d pick the one I liked better. They’re both excellent choices, although their long term reliability is still unknown.

I am looking for a mid-sized sedan only.

If the Accord had a normally aspirated engine, then it would be a toss-up to which one you like the best after test driving both. But the Honda has a turbo engine (either 1.5T or 2.0T) that will eventually suffer oil dilution. Easy decision, Camry.

They should both have similar resale value. Maybe Camry>Accord, but very close. Unlike say a GM or German product.

Thank you@InThrustWeTrust

No worries & all the best.

Do you live in America or outside America?

I live in Canada.

Hmm. If you lived in a South American country, I’d say to go with the Camry, because I know that Toyota designs differently for potholes and curb climbing.

Otherwise, either one one be a fine choice.

Thank you @Kaizen

How long do you plan to keep this car?

For 5-6 years minimum.
And one thing more which one has a good resale value later on?
