Truck still starts and I can get it to shift between gears but it will not move. It does not drive or reverse in any gear. I've been told it could be a dead transmission or just need a new shifter solenoid. I desperately need expert advice

More often than not a transmission is shot shift solenoids generally will make them not shift correctly but they will at least move before they don't shift. Any mechanic Italian 5 minutes looking at it in person and if it was the transmission then you have to decide is it in good enough shape to put a rebuilt one in or would you junk it
