Bought 1993 GRAND CHEROKEE for $500 it runs and drives, . Only thing is that it has a rough idle, exhausted is sawed off when accelerating to quickly it lags. I think it’s might be TPS. Also is this thing reliable ? I heard the this in-line 6 4.0 is bullet proof??

Heavens no, but you got it for a song and dance.
Just cross your fingers, hope it lasts a year, and try not to get pulled over by the cops.
The 4.0 inline six was certainly reliable when new, but after nearly 30 years who knows what kind of shape it's in. Even if it died tomorrow - well, it lasted for decades, can't ask for much more than that. However on those particular Jeeps the Chrysler-built automatic transmission is more of a concern than the engine.
For $500 if it runs and drives you're way ahead of the game. As far as rough idle and hesitation check the usual suspects - air and fuel filters, fuel pressure, fuel injectors. You might also try seeing if there are any OBD1 diagnostic codes.

For the right person, I think that is a great car! I have a thing for inline 6 engines, so I may be in the minority thinking it is a great car.
Scotty's "short" video for today is a reminder to also check those vacuum hoses (which may be decades old) for leaks that would give you a rough idle and could also affect acceleration. Cleaning the throttle body wouldn't be a bad idea either.

As an aside, you may find this interesting and since the Jeep 4.0 is basically an updated version of the AMC 258 inline six (cranks will even interchange), it does go to the "bullet-proof" nature of the design which the OP asked about.
These guys rescued an abandoned AMC Eagle that had been sitting for years with no valve cover. Look what came out of the engine oil pan:

You'd think that under those conditions even if this thing could somehow run, it would be knocking and smoking like crazy. However, after putting in some engine oil and installing a valve cover...

Just try that with an EcoBoost engine!
{pear}:surprised:
To be fair the same guys also got a much rougher Eagle along with this one that had a nasty rod knock. However look at how they ran it and that inline six just keep going regardless:

Amazing! I enjoy hearing stories like this. Adds even more to my obsession with inline 6 engines.
