[Solved] 1993 Nissan truck won’t start

I drive a 1993 Nissan pickup. 2.4L, manual, RWD, 187,600 miles, new battery. Recently it sometimes won’t crank. The electronics power up but when key is turned fully, there is a click sound coming from right side firewall/engine compartment. Sometimes I try to start it 50 times or more, then suddenly it starts. Sometimes, it starts on the 1st or 2nd try. Any ideas why it sometimes starts and sometimes doesn’t?

So I finally fixed it, I kind of held off for a while because I had worked out how to halfway turn the key in the ignition to a certain point, just perfect to make it crank. It started wearing out and couldn’t continue though so I bought a new Clutch inhibitor relay. Cost me $32, changed it in about three minutes, and I have not had any problems now for about a month, so it works!

I recently had this very same problem with my 1989 D21. There is a relay mounted on the fender right behind the battery, I think it is called a Clutch Inhibitor Relay. I replaced mine and problem was solved. Very simple to do and cost about 20 bucks. As Scotty suggests it could be your starter, but I would try this first.
