The lesser of two evils

Looking to get a full size SUV but I’m stuck at an impasse. Do I spend $10K (CAD) on a 2011 Expedition (approx 185000km) or $10K on a 2011 Yukon XL (approx 192000km). Which way would you go?

keep up the amazing advice

I guess a Toyota Sequoia is out of the question?

I would need to know a little more about the specs of each one.

Generally speaking, no turbo (no EcoBoost), and no hybrids.

Which probably means a V8 for either vehicle.

I would look into the history of complaints of the engine and the transmission, as these two trucks I’m not too familiar with on the top of my head.

If I just HAD to choose one blind between the two, I’d probably go Ford. But that’s just random an no basis on anything substantial besides the nameplate.

Out of those two, the Ford Expedition would be your best bet. Yeah they're not that quality made, I'd have to admit that. But as long as it's babied and maintained religiously, I wouldn't be surprised if it would go another 300k kilometers. Also too, have a mechanic check it out first before buying it as well. You wouldn't want to have any problems with that vehicle right after you paid for it if you did right now 😆

If you had made this comparison with an older GMC (say like a 1999) I'd go with GM. But these are the post bankrupt years and GM was making vehicles that were not living up to their name. My older brother has an 07 Cadillac Escalade and though the seats are very comfortable, I was unimpressed with the fit and finish and it always needs something (currently the trans is slipping).

GM was better in the 90s.
