I have a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.0 8 cylinder engine automatic transmission. I've had it for 16 months now and purchased it for 3500 dollars from a private owner when the odometer read 254,000 miles, now it's up to 272,000. It has taken me everywhere. From Western Nebraska where I live, up to the twin cities in Minnesota twice over and back in that time span, not to mention all over the entire state of Nebraska. I've put a lot of money into repairs from the very first day of owning it. Recently, I have been quoted 1100 dollars to fix 2 leaks that I have 1) being from warped oil cooler lines and the second leak is coming from where the transfer case and the transmission meet, which is the bigger of the 2 leaks. Now 1 year ago I had the rear main seal repair done that costed me 997 dollars and that stopped the leak of oil for a few months before I started noticing the leaks that I was just quoted for. I'm just at a point of not having the funds to make anymore repairs to this vehicle as I've had other repairs done to it as well like front and rear differential work, ball joints, tie rods, engine valve cover and oil pan gaskets, and new tires. I've totaled close 4000 dollars with everything I've had done to it. Yesterday, I did my usual 3000 mile oil change and the mechanic looked at my coolant and said that I need a new water pump because my coolant is evaporating every few weeks. Now I was aware of this and just kept adding coolant when it was needed, oh I'd say about every 3 weeks I would top it off. But now I'm told it's because my water pump needs replaced and that's another 330 dollars. I'm just struggling to come up with a good sale price for it because of all these factors of it still needing another 1400 or more for these things, not to mention the obvious being that this it has 272,000 miles on it. I think the only thing I am riding on for it's value is the 6.0 vortec engine is still really, really great! Still hums right along on the highway, has no problem picking up and going but then again, I truly do not know if somewhere in the vehicle's past if the engine has been repaired before or not either And as for the transmission leak, I just do the same thing and top it off with regular dex-merc fluid when it gets low. Any suggestions of what might be reasonable for a sale price, given this information? I could go on a lot longer because this vehicle has been the reason I am coming to learn more about vehicles than I ever have before and this vehicle is the reason I have found your channel on youtube! When I was researching options to use to stop my oil leak from the rear main, you're AT-205 video on youtube was the 1st one I've ever seen, about 14 months ago now, and yes, I am a daily watcher of your channel. Any feedback about this would be surely appreciated, and I apologize for the length...I'm gaining a subtle passion for vehicles, as of late, and can understand why you've done it for so long! Thank you, Scotty!
Do comparisons of the same make, model, age, and mileage. This will give you a rough estimate of what the market is asking. And you can adjust your asking price accordingly.
