[Solved] Mechanic Ripped Dad Off Just Gotta Vent For A Second Opinion

2000 250K and Fox Autos (you can imagine the joke I wanna make), charged a whopping $1500 for a full brake job.

By now I've done all the brakes,  rotors and the back calipers myself.  Scotty is truly correct when he says it's so easy a monkey could do it.

I returned to monke and did it myself and the price difference made my dad hysterical.  Can't remember but it certainly was only a small fraction of $1500.

For a 2000 V6, if ya'll had to guess,  how much should all the brakes/rotors/calipers cost realistically? At a mechanics garage vs at home? If ya'll got time.

I'm gonna give her 4 new calipers just to be doing it for her.  They're getting flaky. Honestly I don't understand how to tell if a Caliper is bad unless it turns black and sticky like last time.

$1500 was an absolute rip off right? They even ripped off my hood latch pulley (is there a word for that thing? I'm squishy brained tonight). Didn't offer to fix it,  even for money.  Got mad that I was mad about it. I babied that thing they must have gorilla gripped it.  Chill mechanic buddy made me a makeshift one.  I'll put the real one back on someday,  I kinda adore how it is by now though.

Can I tell a story about the car in the comments,  or is off topic not allowed? I'm having a good night,  but it's all good if nah.

Well of course that's a total rip-off. It's a simple job anybody could do and in the afternoon. And you can buy parts on Amazon or other places that are a fraction of that cost
