05 Ford Expedition, 145k

engine went out on the freeway. Noticed the positive battery terminal connection was loose. Car wouldn’t start, so I tried as hard as I could to tighten it up. Finally was able to jump start it only after tightening it down with a pair of vice grips. Car only drove another half mile before stalling again. Now I have replaced all the battery cable ends, no crank no start, but I hear a squeal/squeak when I push key into start position. Newer battery measured at 12.3-12.5 volts.

the battery does not power the vehicle. It's only used for starting.

The alternator is what keeps everything going. You need to get BOTH load tested.
