hi, hoping someone can help me. i have a 94 grand cherokee 4.0 with about 187000 miles. i only drive maybe a total of 10 miles a day back and forth to work. the jeep runs great, i mean almost like new great. plenty of power, no hesitation,... just plain great. but, if i drive more than a half-hour (like across the county, etc.) it runs funny. white smoke out the exhaust, wont shift from 2nd to 3rd unless i let of the gas, temp gauge goes close to what i assume would be around the 200-degree mark, slight (as in really noticeable) loss of power, and a few other weird things i can't think of right now.

before i bought it, it was rear-ended slightly. just a dent in the tailgate, but the exhaust took the brunt of it. the muffler is crinkled and the exhaust manifold was cracked. the manifold has sheet metal wrapped around it with hose clamps. now the noise really noticeable so i know it needs to be replaced.

so what i am wondering is if the issue i have can be fixed with a new manifold or is there something in addition going on? thank you

A jeep that all the million things can go wrong but replace the manifold first with it leaking it will mess with the air fuel ratio and you should start there

just wanted to say thank you for the reply. i ordered a new exhaust manifold and hopefully will be installing it this weekend. i will post an update

well,... it seems im cured. although i havent taken it for a 50 mile drive, yet. sunday was super bowl sunday. i drove wife to grocery store, parking lot was packed. i decided to wait in my jeep. i let ny G.C. run/idle in the lot, just curious how it would act... 30 minutes later, we leave. jeep drives fine, no weird smoke from exhaust, plenty of pep, shifted normal..... so far seems great. Thank You Scotty!

i also watched your video on the AT 205 reseal. it has made my oil filter leak nonexistent..... thank you again!

now this weekend plugs, cap rotor and a throttle body detox.
