1994 Toyota celica st 1.8
Hey Scotty I recently bought a used 1994 celica same as yours with 120k on the dash .. my radiator fans aren't kicking on , I tested them with alligator clips and a rc battery , and they do work ... i also noticed she was running a bit cold - I changed the thermometer because the one in it after testing was opening up pretty wide at about 160 degrees Fahrenheit ... the new one seemed to fix the temp reading on the dash ... the radiator might be plugged because I noticed the bottom isn't heating up at all ... I'm changing the radiator this week , I also changed what I believed to be the temperature sensor but not sure if what I did was correct ... is it true that this car has a temp sensor , and a temp sender ? .. the temp sensor I bought was two prong and I figured would go the wire connected to thermostat housing but then I shortly noticed after that the sensor on the housing is only a single prong ... is that the temp sender ? ... is there two sensors like I'm thinking ..? .. I put the temp sensor I bought a little farther up to the unit attached to the thermostat housing that has two hoses connected to it ? .. really confused ..
have you tried swapping fuses/relays?
Yep :/ .. wondering if I'm right tho and that is in fact a temp sender on the thermo housing and a temp sensor on the water pump housing and I also just learned that these models might even have a radiator switch .. i looked everywhere and there's nowhere on the radiator for a radiator switch .. is it true that this model you take the drain plug out the radiator and put the switch there ? ...
Because it's weird both fans are hooked up but there's another plug that's just hanging from the relay box that's not hooked to anything .. I was told from another video I saw on YouTube with somebody else having cooking fan issues like me and had the same cord hanging that it's for a radiator temp switch
I bought a 94 celica , 120k miles on the dash .. 1.8 liter
she's amazing .
my cooking fans aren't kicking on - I changed the temp switch on the water pump housing and im going to change the temp send on the thermo housing too ..
I just noticed that this model might even have a radiator switch ... does that go where the drain plug is on the actual radiator itself ?
Because it's a different question - this is about the radiator switch .. and a loose wire from the relay the last one I posted was about temp sensor and sender by the thermo and water housing ... and I didn't receive " responses " I received a single response asking about relays and fuses which I already checked and replaced ... why so hostile ?
No hostility, just pointing out that posts pertaining to a particular problem (in this case cooling fans) should be kept in the same thread per forum rules to keep all the information about the issue together.
So sorry thanks for keeping me informed - is there anyway to delete it ?
No worries, this was just a reminder to keep focus on the issue in a single topic thread. It's only if someone repeatedly does otherwise that site admins would take any action. The topics have already been merged together here so there's no problem. Also remember if you want to bump your topic up to the top for more attention all you need to do is add your own response to it.
