1995 GMC Suburban hesitates to go in reverse

My spare vehicle is a 1995 GMC Suburban with a 7.4 Liter engine.  It has no rust.  We only use it to tow a boat.

This vehicle runs fine going forward even when towing a boat but it takes about 5 minutes for the Reverse to kick in.  The fluid level is full.  Should I spend $1,500 to get the transmission rebuilt?

When those Chevy tranny's have trouble the first sure sign is no reverse.

Before replacing/repairing, drain a pint and put a pint of transmission conditioner in the fluid.  It will oftentimes dislodge dirt and funk that's blocking tiny ports etc.

Won't permanently fix it, but should give you reverse for a while.

I'll spend $1500 to take it off your hands lol. If you have a competent rebuilder though, $1.5K isn't bad to get the trans back up. I'm guessing the 95 has a fair amount of miles at this point.

I belong to the GMT400 Forum. (88 to 98s) There are some wicked smart members that can help with your Burb. Second, Scotty said once if you do not have reverse, park were you will not need it. LOL
