- Audi A4 1.8 1996 B5 non turbo. My car was parked off for 3 years.. i tried starting it it refused to start.. i put a new fuel pump and plugs . And tried again. It still refused. I somehow dropped a bolt into cylinder 3. And broke a valve. I repaired the head and tried again it still refuses to start. It has fresh fuel. There is excellent spark and good fuel flow. The injectors spray 100%. The timing is correct. What else could be the problem. The cluster shows the gears changjng from P to R constantly on its own
