Hey I been going in stores lately and looking for some 5w20 oil...only to see I'm having trouble finding it....on the 0w20 container it says it has same protection as 5w20.....so can I put 0w20 in my 1996 ford ranger???

No, use the oil viscosity recommended in your owner's manual.

You sure can. In fact it's even better for your engine than 5W20
