1996 GMC C1500 5.0L oil fouled spark plugs. My mechanic tell me the pistons rings likely wore allowing oil. What is causing spark plug fouling and engine to burn oil.
What is bad on these engines. It is rebuilt and has about 60000 km on it.
@chucktobias It is Napa rebuilt engine. I don't think it is worn out mechanic didn't think so. Just expensive labor to take apart. Are rebuilt chev 5.0L engines from Napa bad quality.
NAPA probably farms out the rebuilding, who knows who actually did it and what they did. It's hard enough to get a rebuilt alternator or starter out of a parts store, let alone an engine.
By definition worn piston rings means the engine is worn out. The problem might even be more than piston rings if for example the block they started with had tapered cylinders and they didn't bore oversize and install oversize pistons to correct it. Were the cylinders even properly honed? We don't know. Add to that the spotty quality so many of today's parts are known for and you have a real crap shoot.
