2024 Corolla Cross Transmission Mount

Hi,

I purchased a 2024 Corolla Cross L in September 2024, now has 2600 miles on it, heard a buckling noise while pulling into a parking space, took it to the dealer, they ordered a transmission mount, replaced it, now the other transmission mount needs to be replaced. Dealer ordered the part but it is on back order, could be 1-2 weeks or 1-2 months, not sure when it will arrive. I asked if I could get a rental, dealership said, no, since this is not a failed part, meaning, I could drive the car, and no additional damage would occur, only to the new transmission mount that was replaced today. Is this true? As I need a car at this time. Thanks!

That's about the craziest dealer "logic" yet - the part failed or it wouldn't need to be replaced, yet they claim it's not a failed part?

Depending on how much excess motion is taking place due to the failed mount the motor mounts could be damaged as well.

Looks like Toyota's quality keeps going down the hill.  What's wrong with all the OEM's and their quality control lately?  I just don't see how cutting corners and using cheaper parts saves OEMs money if they have to do recalls so often and fix issues.

Updates:

Unfortunately, still having problems with the 2024 Corolla Cross, it's 6 months old, 3600 miles, before I was told transmission mounts were bad, but on the receipt it said - engine mounts - are these the same things?

Now, there's still a noise coming from the front of the car, sounds like the same buckling noise, like something is to tight/loose, but the dealer said, they aren't hearing it, and the only noise they do hear are the rear brakes, I'm not hearing rear noise.

Brakes are not under warranty and I've never seen a car with 3600 miles need them.

Dealer told me to schedule a ride-along with the lead tech, but I thought the dealership was the expert and should tell me wants is wrong with the car. It has been there 4 times for the same noise.

Any suggestions, I'm frustrated and hate to pay for brakes while only on the 6th payment for the car.

I went with Toyota thinking I would have the best reliability, this has not been the case.

Thanks!

JJ

@jenniferjayjay No, motor mounts and transmission mounts are not the same thing. Though they're very similar in the sense that they're both mounting points which connect the engine or transmission to the body of the vehicle with a rubber bushing between for vibration reduction.

I think it's a good idea to take the tech on a ride along so you can drive the car and reproduce the noise you're hearing. That way he will know exactly what you're talking about.

The rear brakes needing replaced at 3600 miles seems highly improbable. I would look at the brake pads and see if they look worn.

If the brakes don't look worn then at least you'll know someone as the dealership is probably dishonest. Don't automatically assume it's the tech because it could also be the customer service rep trying to meet some kind of fiscal target for the dealership.

You can take your Toyota to any dealership for warranty service. Maybe trying another dealership for warranty repairs is worth a try if the issue isn't fixed after the ride along.
