i have a 1996 nissan pickup truck automatic with 117,000 miles. the owners manual says it takes 4 1/8 quart oil with filter. i got an oil change from my mechanic and the invoice says 3.75 quarts were put in. The dip stick shows it' over filled. could the dip stick be wrong or the manual be wrong and how can you tell the actual amount of oil it takes?

Hello,
Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface and has not been running for about three minutes,
Remove the dipstick and clean it, replace the dipstick, remove it again and read the level,
If it's over full you will need to have the excess oil removed, it could cause you problems.
Have a look at the oil filter make sure its new, and not leaking oil.
All the Best.
