I'm trying to help my little brother with his 96 tacoma. It has 186,000 miles on it. He bought it used about a year ago.. so we don't know much of the the service history. The problem is ... It starts up fine and will take you from point A to point B. Then you have to wait at least 15-20 minutes before you can start it up again.
It's a Florida car, in pretty nice shape.. really just faded paint. And it has a little 4 banger engine. I think they all did back then.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
It could be that the injectors are partially clogged and leaking fuel into the engine flooding it out for the 20 minutes or so it takes to clear out. I would try some injector cleaner first, then look to replacing the injectors if that fails to help. They are about $26 a piece at Rock Auto.
