Hi, i was in a hurry and put a battery on my truck backwards, it was running the same day prior to this. So the positive wires smoked, broke connection between the batt and alternator due to burning. I got the wires cleaned up and re connected, taped em up. Got some blown fuses after looking at the multimeter, gonna replace those tomorrow, but my level of expertise is low. I can hear the fuel pump and it was working before the battery smoked all my wires, but is there anything else I should do or check? What about the ignition control module? How do I test this? Help my get her running, i just bought her yesterday 🙁

replace the fuses and see what happens.

If you get sparks, then the ignition module works.

Alright got some bad fuses, after buying a multimeter to check them. Gonna replace those and pull the spark plug to check for spark. Wish me luck today

Good luck! There's a pretty good chance you'll have success now that the fuses are all checking out good.

Ok so I just replaced all bad fuses. The ENG 1, IGN A, and ECM B all still dont read 0.0. The ecmb only reads 0.19 but the others are higher numbers. Cranks no start still. A mechanic on the phone said it was the crank fuse... Well I dont know where that is or how to check. Still cant check spark because I couldnt get a spark tester and i bought the wrong socket. HELP im outta my league here

You got this man! The crank fuse is inside the fuse box. Should be a 10 amp fuse. Here is a link showing how the entire ignition wiring is run: https://www.justanswer.com/chevy/6tvdp-chevrolet-1500-silverado-chevy-silverado-not-starting-no-power.html

Yeah I didnt see one thing labelled a crank fuse in that box. Sent it to a shop. Now I guess ill just be adding credit card debt since I dont even have the money for rent in a week. I wish life wasnt so brutal

if it wasn't brutal, there would be nothing to live for. These moments are what give life meaning.
