Hey Scotty i recently purchased a 1997 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 the cooling fans come on as soon as I turn the key...the original relays for the cooling fans are intact and I can see no wiring splicing. The temp sensor located in the water pump is intact. When I turn the car off the tach and stuff do crazy dance before the car turns off. Im in need of your help. Car has 135000 miles on it and I've had a generation 4 F Body trans am before. This one has the "Ramair" 5.7 LT-1 engine in it code P. HELP
Sounds like that thing has some serious rigging that was done to it I'd have to see that one in person if you're in the Clarksville area I could take a look at it it might be a lot of insane work that's needed though I can tell you that now
Definite electrical problem somewhere. Those are super hard to trace down. If you are close to Scotty I would take it to him, but otherwise you'll need a competent mechanic to take a look in person.
I would start by checking all the fuses in the car just make sure it’s all of them. The fans turning on when the key is on generally indicates a loss of ground or short or open internal to the pcm or its circuit.
