Hi

I have taken my 1998 subaru legacy 2ltr non turbo wagon to get a front control arm bushing fitted.

After the job was done there was a whineing noise comeing from around the left rear of the car.

I was told it might of been caused by the car being put on the car hoist makeing the wheels hang down and when it was put back down sum part might not

of seated back in place.

VERY ODD.

Any way i was told to insert the fuse under the hood to take it out of the four wheel drive mode.

I did and the car now shows a fwd light -front wheel drive.

And now the sound is gone.

Have you ever come accross this problem?

What would make this happen?

First off.
haveing a FRONT bushing changed wont make a left REAR noise appear.
also a rear bearing wont suddenly make a noise then stop when it is put in front wheel drive.

If you say so.

Take the vehicle back where you got it from. Whoever worked on this car did not fix the problem correctly.

After 25 years it would not be unusual for a wheel bearing to wear out and start making noise.

dont quit your day job.

Well, we know that everyone has an opinion, just like everyone has - you know what. 😆
