Might be looking to buy a winter beater truck. I was offered a 2006 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab 4x4. One owner base model with hand crank windows. It has 218k miles asking $4,200

If it passes a thorough pre purchase inspection, offer half and see what happens.

A little too much for a 16 year old pickup. If he's willing to negotiate the price down, then it might be ok.
