I have a 1998 Villager with 360K miles.  I burns a just enough that it smokes when I start the van.  it the only time it does this.  what is the reason for the smoke and what can I do to stop it.

Get a new engine.

Burning oil due to worn valve seals, worn pistons. Normal stuff for an engine with 360K. If that's the only time then it's pretty minor. I would live with it.
