- Hiya Scotty, I have a 1999 4runner, 2.7,2wd, auto. 250,000 miles. I get a P0402 code if I try to give her the juice before the temp needle is at least up to the “C” on temp gauge. If I baby it (easy on the go pedal) until it hits the “C”, it won’t throw the code.At the “C” or up to operating temp, no CEL. I replaced egr last fall and didn’t do anything. Any thoughts? Much appreciated

Well old age might try having the fuel injectors pressure clean they might be a little bit weak might also check to see if any of the sensors like the math sensor or throttle sensor are weak but it would take a mechanic to check that
