1999 Chevy Express 3500 5.7 v8 automatic 93k miles
Hey I just purchased this van for $2100. Was going to maybe live in it for a bit. Are these reliable? It seems maintained. Has no engine blowby at all when took off oil cap. No engine lights.
When shifting from park to drive, from drive to reverse vise versa. You can feel it lightly thump into gear. Kinda sounds normal. Doesn't slip or anything. Shifts smooth when driving. Trans fluid is still red. Not sure when it was changed.
Is there anything about these vans I should be aware of? Changing the trans fluid when still red is that a good idea. I'm just trying to maintain this van and take care of it.
Are these timing belts or chains?
Any advise is greatly appreciated
Thank you all
No back in the day. GM made decent products and if that mileage is real it probably has a lot of life left in it. Assuming the previous owners took care of it. And if you're up north you might want to look underneath to see if it's rusting away from salt in the winter. That's what usually kills them
