Im in the market for a new car, i have found a listing for a 1999 nissan altima with 130,000 miles for $1500. It has no listed issues. I dont want a money pit. I am curious, is this car worth the price and will it be reliable for everyday driving?
That's around the last year they were good. But it old, try Honda or corolla...now days you can't buy a quality bike for 1500.00 so figure 500.00 in fixes for a 1500.00 car that's if motor and tranny are checked out ok..
I bought a used one for my daughter's first car many moons ago. I remember replacing the distributor. An annoying problem was the headlight bulb sockets crumbled from the heat. It was a decent car until a box truck pulled out in front of her. The car was totalled but she didn't have a scratch.
Have a mechanic check it out. If the engine and transmission are in good shape, I would buy it. You can't get much for 1500 bucks and if it is running good and shifts fine etc, it could last.
