Hey everyone, i picked up a 2000 mustang gt auto with 226000kms for $3700 canadian which is a steal for a new edge mustang these days. My question is, i have a spedometer issue, it is running 10km/h over the actual speed on my gps. My gt is running factory sized tires and same size rims, no issues with rear end, no play in the drive shafts universal joints, auto trans shifts like a dream and i am wondering if the previous owner swapped out the 3.27 or 3.55 gears and put in 3.73 or 4.10 gears.... It goes like a bat out of hell! Faster than a few other stock auto gts I have driven. Just so confused at the speed difference.
It probably got swapped to 4.10's. Everyone just LOVES doing that. 🙄
3.73's would be the ideal choice.
I was figuring 4.10s, cuz i filled her up this morning and shes empty tonight with only 197kms driven today.
My 2000 linc town car touring with 3.55 gears only gets 500kms may be to a tank on the highway, about 380kms putting around stop sign to stop sign in town, but the 3.55s are factory on the touring edition. Well i am glad i can rest easily knowing i may not need to do the swap to 4.30s with 4.10s already in it. Haha
You don't want any more than 4.10's for sure.
I know, but watching peoples faces when you say 4.30s in anything rwd with some gusto.... I put 4.30s in my 93 crown vic with a weldes diff. Laid rubber for hundreds of feet until i blew the tires. But i agree. 4.10s are perfect.
