2000 Toyota Camry 2.2 Liter 4 Cylinder Engine Cruise Control Won't Work

Hi, My Cruise Control won't work. When I press the on button the green light that says cruise appears on the dashboard. It comes on with no problem when I press the on button. It doesn't Blink or switch off by itself. When I press down the coast button nothing happens and yes, I am going at least 50 mph and still nothing. I checked all the fuses connected to the cruise control and all are fine. Check engine light is off, so the car has no codes. Just got it 3 days ago. What is wrong how can I fix it? what is the problem? Would really like to fix this myself without having to pay Toyota $125 an hour to do it. Thank You.

Check engine light is off, so the car has no codes.

That doesn't compute. Not all codes trip the check engine light.

Is your brake light switch working OK? Typically cruise control will not engage if it "thinks" the brakes are being applied. You did not specify the transmission, but if manual there would also be a safety switch on the clutch that should be checked. If the cruise control uses a vacuum-operated servo check the 22-year-old vacuum lines.

Yes, it is a manual Transmission.
