I have p0125 code with the california emissions requirement thing I changed the thermostat, ECT sensor checked the circuits, still get the code I stumbled onto a toyota forum saying it could me the o2 sensor that's shot. Before clearing the codes after installing the new parts I also has code P0171 "system too lean bank 1" i'm assuming that would be post cat converter downstream sensor? thank you for your time

Well if your not getting up to a good operating temperature it can make you run lean. But Ive never heard of running lean keeping you from coming up to temp. Since you swapped the thermostat I would clear the codes and see which ones come back. That way you can figure out if you had two separate issues, or if the temperature issue was causing the second. And yes downstream is after or in the Cat. Upstream is before the Cat, sometimes called Air/Fuel sensor instead of O2 sensor.
