I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 3.9L v6 with 15700 miles. I have had the truck since it had 130000 miles on it, and now when i start the truck first thing in the morning or after it has been sitting for a few hours, i hear a loud clacking sound but it only lasts for a few seconds and it only does it when i start the engine after its been cold, I know it is not something good, but any idea what is wearing out and how much time I am looking at until something pretty bad/expensive happens?
Ad generally I'm just starting to wear inside the clacking could be hydraulic lifters or could be timing chains could be lots of things but it's not a good sign and it generally means in the future it will need expensive engine repair or replacement typical for those V6 engines
