Hey Scotty,

We recently purchased a 2001 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning with under 13,000 original miles on it. I’m seeing on Lightning group pages that we should install a catch can on it. Being a first time owner of one of these trucks, could you recommend if we should install a can? Not going to race the truck, just go to car shows, cruise-ins and enjoy.

Thank you for your time and I love keeping up with you on your channel. Your wealth of automotive knowledge is immeasurable! Keep up the good work and welcome to Tennessee. We live in East Tennessee south of Knoxville.

Scott

I would do it just to be safe.

What was the reason for catch can on those F-150s?

Mostly just as a blow by fail safe. With the supercharger, a lot of guys tend to drive them harder than normal, intentionally or not. The engines are robust, but I would recommend the catch can as cheap insurance on a performance motor that's running a forced induction setup.
