I’m looking to buy a 2001 Ford Mustang as a fun weekend car, the one I currently have my eyes on has a v6. Does anyone know how reliable the mustang v6’s are?

You know me so well. {black} {blackemo}:hotdrink:

They are very reliable cars. The V6 was not very quick, but they could go hundreds of thousands of miles if maintained.

The ONLY real weak spot on them is around the 130k - 150k the head gaskets like to go out. But if you keep an eye on it and take care of it before it gets bad, it can go another 150k miles. Parts are everywhere and dirt cheap.

If it is in good shape and checks out mechanically, I say go for it.

A friend of mine has a 2003 V6, it was his first car. He got it in 2009 and he's still driving it today. I'm not sure of his mileage, but it was around 100k 12 years ago. He drove it from Cincinnati to Baltimore when he moved.
