Hey Scotty. I'm looking for a decent knock around van. I only have 2-3k to spend. I live in San Diego, CA. What do you think about a 2001 Ford Windstar with 80k for $2600? It needs shocks and a window motor.
Is that your only option?
Those old Windstars are actually decent. If it got a clean bill of health I’d go for it.
The Ford minivans were pretty much on par with the GM minivans. The rear wheel drive body on frame vans were actually good. The front wheel drive unibody vans such as that weren't great by any strech of the imagination but they were certainly better than a Caravan. If it is strictly a knock around can then go ahead but I would see if they would take less for it.
If you can get it for $2000, it should be fine for what you are going to use it for. But just don't plan on racking up the miles without making repairs.
Meh if you could find a $3000 old Sienna I would get that but if this is your only option then it might be OK just don't expect much from such an old Ford.
