Hello, I have a 2001 Honda Accord Ex 2.3l 4 cylinders. I’m struggling to find a answer on these two codes mainly the p1381. I hear so many reasons why my car may be misfiring online by different comments and videos on YouTube but none specific to my car. My cars check engine light comes back on and off by itself time to time (happened twice). It’s always the same codes and even though it’s now off again. When I do a code check they do pop up. My car runs fine just the only issue I notice is that my rpms would run a little high when I’m driving. I can feel as if my change in gears are changing late and can go upwards to 5000-6000 rpms before changing gears. I’ve tried reaching out to a few family mechanics. All they tel me is I need a new transmission & new catalytic converter. They haven’t gone to check my distributor, my alternator, or sparks. I have changed my spark plugs revelry and same result. My car doesn’t die out like I’ve seen other people talk about with the p1381 code but maybe that’s due to a new battery gotten it a few months back this year. My old batter however would easily die but I believe it was because it was pretty old and definitely needed a new one. Now that I had this new battery. I yet to come with dead engine problems. Also the car does start up fine and makes no noises as far as I can tell.
Mileage?
About 170k maybe a 170-175,000 at most
Well a vehicle if that's old all it takes is a corroded connection on any of the sensors like the crank sensor or the cam sensor to cause that code or a short in the wiring either going to the computer or from the computer to the sensor or even a fault inside the computer in the driver circuit that runs that system. I start by looking at the cam and crank sensor wiring and replacing the crank sensor if you can't find any problems a bad sensor could do that too
